Saint Paul Outside the Walls
In between the important works made at the Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls for the second millenary of the birth of St Paul. Card. Andrea di Montezemolo, Archpriest of the Basilica, trusted Arte Poli with the designing and execution of two important artworks: the new closing structure of the external atrium between the Basilica and the Abby, and the new closing art glass in the baptistry chapel.
The design for the art glass is a geometrical grid that represents light forming a filter that breaks against the simplicity and strenght of the central design that symbolizes the Divine Light of the Holy Spirit.
The geometry and the warm colors of the mouth-blown glass recall the characteristics of the surrounding architecture creating uniformity: the modernity of the stained glass harmozises with the classicity of the Chapel.
